book blog #4 foundling

after escaping from the criminal's Rossamund meets a mercenary named Europe; she is a soceress of type and has the ability to create lightning bolts from her body. When he meets this character she is sort of a hero to him because she is the helping person of the story so far, and all good stories have a person to jumpstart the adventures. examples are such as Gandalf from Lord of the Rings, or Brom from Eragon, Obi-wan from starwars, the list goes on and on. but the importance of a character like that is developing the hero themselves. the boy rossamund has been saved by this new apperance and he is now on the right track of life of a military man and he is learning many important details of the roads from the expierienced traveler. with the aid of the newly introduced Mercanary Europe Rossamund could finnaly have a chance at his dream, to become a hero.

book blog #3 foundling

in the recent pages of the book Foundling, the hero, Rossamund, was tricked onto the wrong boat and it was a baaaad boat, filled with low-life pirates and criminals who were in charge of stealing and smuggling banned items. this was a case of a good person being stuck into a group forcing him too be bad, this is like one scene in the mighty ducks movie. the coach who is a lawyer doing community serves tells his players to cheat. one of the players, charlie, refuses to do this and then leaves because he wants to play real hockey not cheating a penilty in. this is like rossamund who absolutly does not want to be a criminal, he says about how much he would hate to get caught when a patrol gaurd wants to board the ship but instead begins to chase it. his dream was already hurt when he became a lamplighter, but he would never be a hero if he was sent to jail.

Book Blog #2 Foundling

Rossamund now has to set off on his journey in order to get to his new job as a lamplighter he has to travel on the hogshead a large vassal for the emperor. A challenge that the boy faces this time around is that he has to make the journey alone when mister Sebastipole, the man who recruited, him has other jobs to do. It is a significant event because all of Rossamund's life he has been sheltered and now he has to travel a long distance all by his lonesome to get to a job he does not even want but is forced to take. His experience is much like that of a person who is forced from their home and given a place far off to stay. A hard experience like this may as well be a very important path to his future life and not just a physical path but an emotional path that will ready him for many hardships he will probably encounter in his life time. Sebastipole says to Rossamund "I have other tasks to attend to here in Boschenburg. You will see me again some day not too distant, I’m sure. Just head down the stair and along five berths. A lamplighter's life is independence of thought and deed my boy. You will need to get used to this as soon as possible. Welcome to the lamplighters!" (D.M. Cornish 58) this was the only introduction to the world he was about to enter, I myself would be uncertain and maybe unable to continue on in such a hard manor, showing how strong of a character Rossamund is.

Book blog #1 Foundling

Recently i started the book Foundling. While i am not far enough in the book to understand the plot i can sense were the book may be headed. The Main character, Rossamund is an orphan boy who lives at a military school in a different fantasy world; He is often wishing for the one chance to get out of the school. Like in the first Star wars movie when Luke is not happy with where he is, Luke wanted to go with his friends and join the rebellion; Rossamund wanted t0 join the marines. The two characters from different story's never actually get what they originally wanted, in the case of Luke it ended up better then what he had hoped for. Rossamund is not offered with his dream job of a marine but instead as a lamplighter. I do not know what the job is like yet because I have not read that far, but I'm sure that if the story is about being a lamplighter than it must be a honorific job that is very dangerous. there is a boy in the book that is played out as a monster, his name is Gosling. he was thrown out by his family because he wasn't as good as their standard, there is also a rumor that they couldn't afford him and their racehorses so they had to choose. Just as in a real life situation the boy is hurt inside and he converts it into anger his target is Rossamund. Gosling is hated by everyone because of the way that he is unable to give up his pride and his pain from being abandoned. The author Cornish describes how others think of him when the fighting coach yells "get back you miserable child." (Cornish 5) after Gosling attacks Rossamund because he wins in a stick duel. Gosling is a character to represent a sense of brokenness in the world and maybe a foreshadow of not a demon being the worst foe, but a man who has been destroyed.

An ex-astronaut says that global warming is a bunk. We know that the earth is warming because if it wasn't we would still be in an ice age. I love this astronaut becuase he is someone with a sane mind and he is also a decorated geologist from harvard so what he says is very reliable. The thing that is happening now is a climate change but not one as severe as it is nautrual.

Its every ones favorite holiday St. Patrick day or green beer day as others know it. me being irish love this holiday so much and celebrate it religiously. reading this article i was very disappointed, because the original color for this day was not green but blue this has changed my whole outlook on life, but luckily its still about spuds. this holiday is a European history marker unlike the Indian festival of lights in Nectar in a sieve.

even though it is not "true" bollywood the movie Slumdog Millionaire has won 8 oscars and was a great motion picture. It was like the movie we watched in our class because it also was not true bollywood yet both movies are regarded highly and are noted movies.

A muslim woman was asked to leave a bank because she was wearing a head scarf and it went against the "no hats, hoods, or shades policy." both sides on the case have good arguments for there side but i think that it should be able to adapt to diffrent cultures because humans are a bendable race and prone to change. this is like the book things fall apart where the settelers are asking the locals to change for them and not the other way around.

New Iraq plan to pull out completely by 2012. I completely and totally disagree with this. time lines are the worst possible solution because if were not done by the time we pull out then every thing we've done so far would be for not. I would hate for this to happen and would hope that it will change.

In the carabien a woman is suspected to have fallen off a cruise liner that was on a week long journey. the woman was reported missing at 3 in the morning by the husband, it was confirmed that she was not on the ship anymore. but there is hope because it was in tropic waters the temperature is always about 70 degrees so hypothermia is at small risk. if she was able to grab a floatation device before falling she could still be alive. I hope that she is alive though i cant see that without a miracle. This reminds me of the whole jewish community in Night, where there is little hope the jewish people still see that there is a chance.

In Madagascar there was recently a power struggle for the right of the land. dozens of soldiers captured the palace that was at the time vacant. the current president said that he would not give power to the anti-government party who tried to get it unconstitutionally. It must have taken the president a ton of bravery to say what he did because his life would have been in danger if he was in the palace at the time of the invasion. This is like Okonkwo because he does not want to hand over his way of life to these invaders who want things there way. It is unlike him also because this is an inside threat of corrupt power and not of colonization.

blog #14 love

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,460984,00.html

I would agree with some who say that the article i read was not about love, but was rather about scandals and lies, by one gold-digger who is just looking for time in the light. Brittany's ex-husband released a story to people about how he loved her but was not in love with her. i think if this kind of story makes the front page of people magazine nothing much is going on in our everyday lives. some people agree that watching paint dry is more exiting, but i think that false love for ones own profit semi relates to Okonkwo when he wants to use his beautiful daughters to gain in the ranks of the village once he returns from his exile.

Yoga is now being banned from some Muslim communities because it comes from Hinduism to find ones inner piece and is believed that it will deter a Muslim from the right path. Ithought this was wierd because someone from my culture would only view it as exercise but that would just be taking advantage of it and just for granted. I linked this with the book from when Ruki sees the muslim woman with her vail on and she thought it was wierd because somthing as simple as showing her face, she couldnt do in other places unlike hers.

"it sounds like the plot of a science fiction thriller but its here and its real" Say's a NASA when warnings to something as big as a "space Katrina" it could cause up to 1-2 trillion dollars of damage including a week long black out. this might happen because of a recent gas release from the sun. though it is unlikely i think it is very scary and would be like the movie the day after tomorrow. In the aspect that the whole world would dramatically change because of a force of nature.

last sheet

in the activity today where we the students had to give up some of our rights to our identity's the last piece of paper that was in my hand had one word on it "Christan". i guess that, that is the most important thing in my life because no matter what happens to me in life or no matter who throws me out GOD will always be there watching and caring and making things a little bit better. Some people do not believe in things such as gods or higher powers, and always ask me some certain questions over and over. The first a hear so much is "if GOD is real why doesn't he show himself" I answer that the same that GOD doesn't want to force us to believe in him because freewill is the greatest gift he ever gave us. So even if this government took over my life what could they possibly do to stop something completely? they say "we kill you if you bounce that ball." but what stops me from bouncing that ball they only threatened me but they didn't truly take it away from me.

selling flowers blog #4

Selling flowers

A 22 year old is selling her virginity online in a auction and no one can stop her. The feds don’t see a problem, local police don’t care, and prostitution Is legal in Nevada were her flower is for sale. But the problem is where on earth is the morals of Americans. This should be shameful and be ridiculed instead of 10000 bids on getting her in bed. I can just see how messed up the world is slowly becoming in this one event, I find it disgusting and demeaning to people everywhere.

Exit here

Exit here

In Phoenix AZ a man was arrested for opening the exit on a plane when it landed. The man opened the exit on the wing and ran out side. He was caught on the run way and his personal information has been kept a secret. I bet he went crazy.

Guantanamo prison break

Guantanamo prison break

On Barack Obama’s first day in office he has called for a inexcusable demand. He has tried to call for the end of the Guantanamo prison within the next year. In this prison there are members of the group the planned 9/11 who we don’t know were to put. There are also several war criminals which are imprisoned or waiting for trail. This ploy looks good on paper and in peoples hearts, but we must not forget to open our eyes to the reality of the danger of this choice which may haunt America forever

The Gore Effect

The Gore Effect

The former vice president is having inexplicable bad luck. Unfortunately for him, the weather that seems to follow him, goes against all of his theories and stats. I of course am talking about “The Gore Effect”. This term is being used to describe the weather patterns following Mr. Gore and other global warming enthusiasts as they present their ideas. Recently, at Harvard University, Gore had just made a speech to a class about global warming and how it is coming to get “you”. His speech was followed by the coldest temperatures in 125 years. The next week, the British House of Commons was debating global warming while out side, it was snowing in London in October for the first time since 1922. Though there is no physical proof of this weather phenomenon, watch out for signs of the “Gore Effect” happening in your town. Gores group did not think this was funny.

Chicago black hawks heart

CBH

When the father of the Chicago Black Hawks’ general manager died, the team was on a long six game road streak. During this stretch, the Hawks had a 3 day break and the players could finally get some well earned rest in their own beds. Their plane took off after their game in Toronto, but the Black Hawks were not on board. The team had made a decision that they would go to the funeral of their general manager’s father. So the team rented two busses, and took off. When asked about why they did it, a player answered “any hockey team would do it.” Why is it that any scandal by a football player 1000 miles away makes the front page but this noble act by these players isn’t even mentioned in the Chicago newspapers? The news must not want heroes any more. They prefer villains. It must not be exiting to hear heart warming stories about players of the greatest sport on and of the ice.

Inauguration

Inauguration – I lack the words to describe…

Today the first ever black president, Barack O’bama was sworn into office. Unfortunately this day of cultural unity was completely tarnished by the lack of respect to the former president, George Bush. At the time of the inauguration the crowd decided to cheer and chant at our former leader “nah nah nah nah, nah nah nah nah, hey hey hey good bye.” When reading an article about this act, I felt that the American people were demeaning the office of the presidency and not just the man. The people of America who have been yelling for “equality” and demanding Obama be given a chance are the same people doing nothing but slamming others and looking foolish. I do not want this act to go unnoticed, and hope that Americans will shape up and drop the hypocrisy and childishness before it is to late.
